Dhaka, April 28 -- Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) has expressed concern over some provisions of the draft Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA), 2024.

Terming the draft PDPA as a step towards data protection in Bangladesh during a press conference on Sunday, TIB urged the government to strengthen the PDPA's foundation in fundamental rights.

The press conference was organised jointly by TIB and Article 19 at the anti-graft watchdog's office in Dhaka city.

It also urged the government to narrow down the scope to focus on personal data and revise data localisation provisions or remove them entirely.
