Dhaka, Feb. 26 -- The government of Japan has decided to provide the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) with USD 2.7 million in assistance for humanitarian support to the Rohingyas staying in refugee camps in Bangladesh and for the host communities.

This donation will be used for disaster risk reduction, shelter upgrade, site management, site development, and protection for the Rohingya refugees and host communities in Cox's Bazar district under the WASH programme, a spokesperson for the Japan Embassy said.

In this regard, an Exchange of Notes was signed by IWAMA Kiminori, Ambassador of Japan to Bangladesh, and Abdusattor Esoev, Chief of Mission, IOM Bangladesh, he added.
