KATHMANDU, March 21 -- The Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) has requested the local levels to determine fees and enforce scholarships in private schools.

On Wednesday, the MoEST published a 10-point request letter for the local levels and requested them to strictly implement existing regulations.

The MoEST has also called for the implementation of free education in public schools. Public schools are prohibited from charging fees for any purpose up to grade 12. However, some schools have been levying fees on students for examinations, annual charges and admissions.

Additionally, the MoEST has emphasized the need for effective implementation of provisions regarding scholarship distribution.
