KENDRAPADA, March 30 -- : The villagers of seaside Rajnagar block started a five-day annual Yajna at Pentha sea beach aiming to propitiate sea god, Varuna, to protect the villages from sea erosion and other disasters like cyclone and flood.

Notably, these villages are prone to sea erosion and cyclone, which are results of climate change and global warming leading to untold sufferings of the residents.

Though a geo synthetic tube sea wall has been erected at Pentha to protect the coastal villages from the ever changing course of the Bay of Bengal, but the villagers are still not convinced.
