Chandigarh, Feb. 16 -- To provide uninterrupted regular electricity to the people of the state, the Haryana Government on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mahanadi Basin Power Limited (MBPL) to purchase 800 megawatts of electricity. In the presence of Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Managing Director, Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, Saket Kumar and Debasish Nanda from Coal India Limited signed the MoU.

Addressing the media persons, Khattar said that a super-critical thermal power plant 1600 (2x800 megawatts) is being set up in Odisha by a Coal India Limited subsidiary company, Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL).
