Manila, May 1 -- The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) on Wednesday reaffirmed its commitment to protect the welfare and well-being of the country's labor force and to combat child labor.

"Labor Day not only signifies the contributions of workers but also underscores our collective responsibility to safeguard the rights and welfare of our workforce and the children involved in labor," Assistant Secretary for Disaster Response Management Group and spokesperson Irene Dumlao said.

She said the celebration also serves as a reminder of the value and rights of every worker, including the children engaged in labor.
