MANILA, May 8 -- The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has implemented a dress code adjustment for a limited time this month to provide some relief to its employees amid sweltering temperatures in the country.

In a memorandum released Wednesday, the bureau's Administrative Division allowed employees to wear smart casual uniform on May 7 to 31, except on Mondays when a complete uniform is required.

Exempted from the directive are personnel under the civil security unit and those assigned at the international ports of entry and exit.

Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the move seeks to ensure the safety of its employees from intense heat.
