CEBU CITY, April 26 -- Around 8,500 modern and traditional jeepneys have already consolidated under the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program.

Eduardo Montealto Jr., regional director of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB)-Central Visayas, said these units are ready to serve the region's riding public should there be no more extension for the consolidation of the remaining traditional jeepneys.

"MPUJ fleets are ready and sufficient to serve all routes. Also, this will be complemented with the TPUJs who are consolidated because they can still ply their routes and have the ample time to modernize given to them," Montealto told the Philippine News Agency.
