Sikkim plans seven private universities, introduces bills in Assembly
Guwahati, Feb. 13 -- In a move that can change the educational landscape of the state, the Education Minister of Sikkim Kunga Nima Lepcha on Monday tabled bills for the establishment of seven private universities in various parts of Sikkim.
According to reports, these proposed universities will offer courses in multiple disciplines including medical science, information technology, management, skill development and academics.
The universities are planned to boost the educational infrastructure in the state and the move can be seen as a way to attract the people before Sikkim goes for polls to select their new government in April 2024.
