Imphal, May 7 -- The Indian Army in conjunction with the Manipur Police launched a joint operation with the recovery of a cache of warlike weapons including arms, ammunition, and explosives while a joint team of security forces disposed of firearms seized at the Manipur-Myanmar border, officials said on Tuesday.

Acting on specific intelligence of the presence of arms and ammunition in the fringe areas of Kangpokpi districts, the Indian Army and Manipur Police launched a joint operation. It recovered one 9 mm carbine, one 9 mm pistol, five grenades, ammunition, and war-like stores on Monday.

The recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police, officials said.
