New Delhi, Feb. 27 -- Relapse in mood disorders signifies a significant setback in the journey toward recovery, often marked by the return of symptoms that meet the full syndrome criteria for an episode. It occurs during the period of remission but prior to complete recovery, leading to a shift from either partial or full remission to a state where syndromal criteria are once again met. The relationship between the frequency of relapse episodes and the age of illness onset is complex.
