New Delhi, March 20 -- The Supreme Court has refused to stay the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and has asked the Centre to respond within three weeks to applications seeking a stay on implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Rules, 2024 till the apex court disposes of the pleas challenging the constitutional validity of the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019.

A bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra adjourned today's hearing on Solicitor General Tushar Mehta's request, legal news portal Live Law reported.
