Afghanistan, March 5 -- Over nearly half a century of the Islamic Republic's existence in Iran, the regime has seen twelve terms of the Islamic Consultative Assembly and six terms of the Assembly of Experts, yet the recent results of these elections indicate a decline in participation compared to any other time.

Iran's Interior Minister, Ahmad Vahidi, announced the final results of these elections yesterday, adding that "the participation rate was 41 per cent, with 25 million people participating in the elections."
