Manipur, March 8 -- The five-day North East India Film Festival (NEIFF), which kicked off on March 3 at the Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Imphal, came to a close on Thursday.

The festival, held for the first time in Manipur, was jointly organised by Film Forum Manipur, Thouna Manipur, Directorate of Information and Public Relation Manipur and Department of Art and Culture.

Speaking on the occasion, Art and Culture commissioner M Joy stated that films play a vital role in preserving history, tradition and culture of a society.

He also emphasised the need for audiences to be more sophisticated in experiencing films and not simply watch it for entertainment.
