Manipur, March 7 -- To meet the diverse needs of modern policing and to motivate state police, Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Wednesday launched seven Mine Protected Vehicles (MPVs) at the 1st Manipur Rifles Parade ground.

Speaking on the sideline of the launching programme, CM Biren told the media that in the last few incidents state police faced various issues while they were ambushed by armed militants. As the state police do not have such vehicles, the state government decided to buy these MPVs to boost their morale while fighting anti-state elements and anti-national elements, he added.
