Bangladesh, Feb. 16 -- The Bangladesh Jute Association (BJA) has requested the government to withdraw restrictions on the export of BTR and BWR raw jute to protect their interests.

The BTR stands for Bangla Tossa Rejection and the BWR for Bangla White Rejection.

It also sought block account facility for uncut, raw jute exporters.

BJA leaders made the plea during a meeting with textiles and jute minister Golam Dastagir Gazi on February 13, according to a press release.

They said the raw jute sector has been severely affected following imposition of restrictions on the exportables in recent times.

Prices also declined on the local market due to ban. So, the BJA requested the minister to take necessary measures to this end.
