Manila, Feb. 16 -- Police authorities have launched a manhunt for two motorcycle-riding gunmen, who killed a public school teacher from North Cotabato, in an ambush in Maguindanao Friday.

"We are pursuing a lead. We expect development in our efforts to bring the suspects before the bar of justice," said Chief Insp. Erwin Tabora, police chief of Datu Montawal town, Maguindanao, where teacher Emmanuel Gonzales was ambushed.

Gonzales, a science teacher of the Pikit National High School, was driving his motorbike en route to the school at 6 a.m. when two men on another motorbike shot him from behind along the national highway in Barangay Bulit in Datu Montawal.
