New York, Jan. 15 -- Some Member States have fallen short of offering a better future to children who continue to die prematurely or fall victim to poverty, trafficking and slavery, UN rights chief Michelle Bachelet said on Monday. In her opening address to the 80th Session of the Committee on the Rights of the Child, in Geneva which reviews the records of Member States according to the Convention on the Rights of the Child - the High Commissioner noted that 2019 marked the pacts 30th anniversary, and that it was by far the most widely ratified human rights treaty.
