Manipur, Feb. 20 -- United Committee Thinungei (UCT) has expressed its happiness and welcomed the state government's decision announcing the establishment of the First Bird Sanctuary at Thinungei village vide Notification no. 25/06/2081-WL/For & Envt., dated January 3, 2019.
A release signed by general secretary of UCT, H. Romeo Singh stated that while a strong majority of villagers supports the Government's initiative; unfortunately, a very small group had voiced their dissent against the declaration of the establishment of the Bird Sanctuary at Thinungei by holding Dharnas and Rallies while even exhorting to violent bandh "just to continue their hold over the state land illegally encroached by them."
