Description

MUMBAI, INDIA – JANUARY 10: Textile museum at United Mill compound, Kala Chowki, on January 10, 2019 in Mumbai, India. The entire mill is spread across 65,000 square metres belonging to the National Textile Corporation (NTC). The compound has been closed since the mill workers’ strike in 1982. BMC got possession of the land in 2016. Of the 17 buildings on the premises that were handed over to the civic body, the nine, listed as heritage structures, will be retained. The remaining will be reconstructed. The project aims to document, archive and represent Mumbai’s textile legacy. (Photo by Anshuman Poyrekar/Hindustan Times )
