RACHI, Nov. 17 -- Over 7000 staff and engineers working under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) across the state on Friday went on indefinite strike demanding regularisation of job and equal pay for equal work.

Employees and engineers, enrolled with the national scheme, were hoping that chief minister Raghubar Das would regularize their jobs on statehood's day (November 15), an assurance given to them earlier by rural development minister Nilkanth Singh Munda and MGNREGA commissioner Sidharth Tripathy.
