NOIDA, Dec. 3 -- Several Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders and MLAS gathered at Ramlila Grounds in Raj Nagar on Sunday, and participated in a rally, seeking a population control law. Speakers included minister of state Giriraj Singh, who said politicians had divided people in order to seek votes.

"We are moving ahead of China in terms of population, despite the fact that we have limited land, water and resources. The social fabric has broken down... The British divided us into castes and politicians divided us further for votes. Our women are not safe in areas where our population has decreased," Singh said.
