Mumbai, April 12 -- A recent study by Mumbai-based non-governmental organisation (NGO), along with researchers from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT-B), revealed that chances of reporting tuberculosis cases from houses with poor ventilation and inadequate sunlight were higher in colonies built to rehabilitate slum dwellers.

The study was commissioned by environment improvement society of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA).

Volunteers from Doctors For You (DFU) and researchers from IIT-B surveyed 4,080 apartments in three slum redevelopment colonies at Lallubhai Compound in Makhurd, Natwar Parekh Compound in Govandi and PMG Colony at Mankhurd.
