SHIMLA, Jan. 31 -- With death toll due to swine flu souring to nine in Himachal Pradesh and over 63 patients having tested positive for the H1N1 virus this month, the state government has issued an advisory to health authorities to remain vigilant and take prompt action for prevention and control of influenza. The government has also appealed people to stay calm and visit a doctor at the earliest in case of disease symptoms.

The advisory issued on January 29 by the health directorate directs principals of medical colleges, chief medical officers of the district and medical superintendents of hospitals to take appropriate measures like early case detection, prompt treatment and timely referral in severe cases.
