JAMMU, Feb. 4 -- Civil society groups and green activists of Himachal Pradesh will be coming together to hold a day-long fast and a public meet at Dharamshala on Tuesday to protest against construction of dams, besides other issues, on state rivers. "We are drawing government's attention towards the deteriorating condition of Mountain Rivers as these are the lifelines of the not just Himalayan states but other downstream states as well. By building hundreds of dams, illegal mining and with unbridled pollution, we are killing our rivers," said environmentalist Kulbhushan Upamanyu.

He said that a detailed memorandum listing all the demands will be submitted to the government later.
