PANJIM, Feb. 17 -- There may be lakhs of cases waiting for a verdict in different courts for over 10 to 15 years now, but at the State Vigilance Department there are over 100 cases waiting for investigations to be completed for years now.

The State Vigilance Department has 128 cases pending, some of them since 2006, whereas the Anti-Corruption Branch has 62 pending. All these cases are of high profile officers and registered under General Vigilance Section.

While there are nearly 200 cases with the Vigilance, the speed of investigations seems to be very slow. Interestingly, many of these cases were registered way back in 2006 and shown as still pending.
