Sri Lanka, Feb. 12 -- All Island Restaurant Owners' Association (AIROA) Chairman Asela Sampath recently resigned from his post due to alleged death threats.

While attending a special press conference in Colombo, recently, Sampath told the media that he would resign due to death threats, which he had allegedly received continuously for days. He added that certain parties had acted against him and attempted to cut down food prices during the period that MP Mahinda Rajapaksa held premiership.

According to him, it was also revealed that the Consumer Affairs Authority earns an annual revenue of Rs.90 million through fines.
