India, Jan. 28 -- Usha Uthup was "stunned" when she learnt that she bagged the Padma Bhushan award this year. The veteran singer's journey has been unlike anyone else's and after more than 50 years in the music industry, this award comes as recognition for the iconic songs she has sung. "I couldn't believe it. I got a call from the ministry in Delhi, who told me to keep the news under wraps until they announce it," she tells us, adding, "I can imagine [winning this award] if I had learned classical music, but I am someone who sings all genres of music, including jazz and folk and even songs in foreign languages. I started my career as a stage singer in a nightclub and did whatever few films I got. They were all big hits, but one does think how this honour happened."...
