Sri Lanka, April 25 -- Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the Samagi Jana Balavegaya and opposition leader, made an announcement today (24) in Parliament, declaring his intention to contest the upcoming presidential election.

During his participation in the parliamentary debate concerning the Easter Sunday terror attack, the opposition leader addressed speculations regarding his candidacy, stating that certain parties have been spreading propaganda suggesting that he would not run for the presidential election.

He also pledged to take appropriate action under a future SJB government to ensure justice for the victims of the tragic suicide bombings that occurred on April 21, 2019.
