Sri Lanka, April 10 -- The Consumer Affairs Authority under the Trade, Commerce and Food Security Ministry has initiated to implement a programme to publish the prices after studying estimated market prices of selected essential commodities by the Authority as declared prices on a weekly basis. Through this, the consumer would be able to purchase those food items by being aware about the market prices.

Speaking to the media yesterday Cabinet Spokesman Mass Media Minister Dr. Bandula Gunawardhana said that it has been recognized that although Sri Lankan Rupee is being overvalued against US dollar and other foreign currency, no deduction of the prices of essential imported retail food commodities is visible in the market.
