Sri Lanka, Feb. 28 -- Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) Anuradhapura District MP Uddika Premaratne tendered his resignation from his Parliament seat yesterday. In his resignation letter, Premaratne says he had entered politics with the hope of contributing his service as a young leader to the leader of the country to make a positive change in the country's politics.

He mentioned in his letter that as he didn't receive the opportunity to contribute over the last few years, it is difficult to take forward his work as an individual.

A communique issued by Parliament Administration and Communication (Acting)Director Janakantha Silva also confirmed his resignation.
