Sri Lanka, May 13 -- The government has planned to distribute rice throughout the country in the last week of May under the second phase of the programme to provide relief to the low income earners.
Finance State Minister Dr.Ranjith Siyambalapitiya said that apart from the 3.4 million families who received rice under the first phase, if there are any other eligible families, they will also be given the benefit in the second phase.
The minister also said that the shortcomings of the first phase of rice distribution will be investigated and efforts will be made to prevent this from happening again and to make the second phase a success, it has been decided to hold a discussion on May 21 with the participation of all officials.
