Sri Lanka, April 6 -- Inspector General of Police (IGP) Deshabandu Tennakoon informed the Supreme Court yesterday (5) that five Police Officers in Charge (OICs) who were transferred after the riots on May 9 will be given positions at police stations comparable to their previous assignments.

This notice was issued after Chief Justice Jayantha Jayasuriya accused the IGP undermining Court order by not providing police stations according to seniority as promised to Court.

The Chief Justice made this statement when IGP Tennakoon appeared in Court on an earlier order when a motion submitted by five transferred police station OICs was called.
