Sri Lanka, March 30 -- A writ application filed by Medical Supplies Division Director of Health Ministry Dr. Kapila Wickramanayake challenging the denial of bail to him by the Maligakanda Magistrate Lochana Abeywickreme was fixed for support for April 1 by the Court of Appeal yesterday.
Dr. Wickramanayake was arrested by the CID on November 20 last year and is currently in the remand custody over the controversial substandard human immunoglobulin vaccine purchase case. The Magistrate had refused bail to him on several occasions despite bail applications having been filed by the petitioner and accordingly, he has filed this writ application.
