Sri Lanka, May 8 -- Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera yesterday alleged that an organised group is attempting to sabotage the government by disconnecting power supply without prior notice and the Electricity Board is currently investigating the matter.

The Minister said this in replying to Samagi Jana Balawegaya MP Thushara Indunil Amarasena, regarding the disconnection of power to consumers who are unable to pay their electricity bills.

The Minister said that for 20 years, both power supply and disconnection have been conducted through the private sector and the trade unions are also accusing the government of giving this to private companies.
