Sri Lanka, May 8 -- MP Gamini Waleboda called for urgent action against the recruitment of retired Sri Lankan military personnel as mercenaries for Russia.

During a press conference, the MP disclosed that these retired soldiers are promised lucrative salaries to serve in Russian military camps but they are subsequently deployed to the front lines as mercenaries.

Upon inquiring with the Russian Embassy in Sri Lanka, Waleboda was informed that the embassy had no involvement with the incident.
