Sri Lanka, Feb. 23 -- The Attorney General yesterday raised objections to the request made by Pastor Jerome Fernando to withdraw the writ petition filed before the Court of Appeal seeking to dismiss the case against him being heard before the Fort Magistrate's Court over the alleged insulting statements about other religions including Buddhism.

President's Counsel Ronald Perera appearing for the petitioner made this request citing that his client has already agreed before the Fort Magistrate's Court to withdraw this writ petition.

However, Senior State Counsel Shaminda Wickrema representing the AG said that an agreement reached with a Magistrate's Court has no relevance to the Court of Appeal.
