Nairobi, April 23 -- A group of Ugandan parliamentarians have pledged to replicate in their country the initiatives of a Kenyan non-governmental organisation aimed at improving the livelihoods of slum dwellers.

The eight lawmakers visited Shining Hope for Communities (Shofco) in Kibera on Tuesday to understand how the organisation has improved lives through projects aimed at improving livelihoods in informal settlements.

They were drawn from the Ugandan Parliament's Committee on Gender, Labour and Social Development.
