Nairobi, May 2 -- The Ministry of Energy has confirmed power outages across the country. Nairobi, Nakuru, Mombasa and Murang'a are among the affected regions.

Kenya Power says the blackout is due to a system disturbance on the grid, resulting in power supply disruptions in most parts of the country.

In a statement, the company said: "At 5:40pm, we experienced a system disturbance on the grid, resulting in power supply disruption in most parts of the country. We regret any inconvenience caused and urge for patience from our customers as we work towards restoring normal power supply at the earliest opportunity."
