Jakarta, April 27 -- The Foreign Ministry stated that 1,119 Indonesian citizens had been repatriated from emergency situations in foreign countries in 2023, including the Turkey-Syria deadly earthquakes and the Gaza war.

Speaking at the 2023 Hassan Wirajuda Indonesian Protection Award event here, Friday evening, Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi warned that duties to protect Indonesians abroad would, however, be more complex in future.

The more complex situation for the Foreign Ministry's endeavors to protect Indonesians is caused by the rapidly growing world dynamics owing to factors, such as armed conflicts and natural disasters, she remarked.
