Jakarta, May 2 -- Indonesian Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Achmad Ubaedillah visited three penitentiaries in the villages of Maraburong and Jerudong on Tuesday (April 30) to observe the condition of Indonesian inmates.

The embassy recorded 44 Indonesians currently serving prison term in Brunei's penitentiaries for their involvement in criminal offences, such as immigration violations, theft, and crimes relating to contraband cigarettes.

After observing the real condition of the Indonesian prisoners, Ambassador Achmad extended gratitude to the prison wardens for their good treatment and empowerment program given to them, according to the embassy's press statement on Wednesday.
