Jokowi inspects staples' stocks, prices at C Java's Wonogiri Market
Jakarta, Feb. 1 -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi), accompanied by First Lady Iriana, conducted a first-hand review of the stocks and prices of several basic commodities at a market in Wonogiri District, Central Java, on Thursday.
According to his secretariat in Jakarta, the president stated that the market is offering various staple goods at reasonable prices.
"The prices are good. For instance, shallots are sold for Rp25 thousand (US$1.6) per kilogram, while chilies are offered at only Rp35 thousand (US$2.2) per kg, a significant decline as compared to the earlier price of around Rp100 thousand (US$6.3)," he remarked after the inspection.
